All went well: First fire drill of the year
On the morning of Saturday, 20 April 2024, the first of five planned internal fire alarm drills took place at the HOLBORN Europa refinery in the Port of Hamburg. The scenario: At pumping station 7, diesel fuel leaks from one of the pumps due to a leak and then ignites. Full-time and part-time firefighters tackled the fire with several water cannons and also simulated the use of extinguishing foam.
The exercise had been prepared by HOLBORNs fire brigade, and the alarm was raised without prior notice to the operational colleagues. The observations made by the onlookers and the feedback from all those involved in the subsequent feedback session are now being incorporated into the regular training and drills for full-time and part-time firefighters.
A little later, the plant fire brigade and OT department also put the water wall along the Moorburger Bogen thoroughfare back into operation with a test. The protective device had previously been comprehensively overhauled and repaired. In consultation with the authorities, we briefly closed the Moorburger Bogen to traffic for the test.
