We create
Values we can
stand by.

Safe & Efficient

We successfully and responsibly operate a safe, efficient and profitable refinery. We adhere to and/or exceed standards and requirements in order to protect people and the environment. We strive to continuously improve.

Socially relevant

We make a positive contribution to our society. We are a building block in the reliable energy supply for Germany and we contribute to the economic strength of Hamburg. We create jobs, train employees and apprentices, use regional providers when possible, work in committees – and of course pay our taxes and duties.

Future-proof

As much as possible, we want to help shape the future of sustainable energy. We are continuously looking for ways to reduce emissions and to produce more eco-friendly fuels to tackle climate change.

Code of Conduct

One of the most critical success factors for Oilinvest (and its affiliate companies) is the trust and confidence that people have in our ability to conduct business reliably, efficiently and in a manner that complies with legal and ethical requirements wherever we are present. The trust and confidence that our stakeholders have in us comes from a reputation that has taken Oilinvest management and employees many years to cultivate, and which we must continuously strive to develop and protect in our individual and collective behaviours and through our business conduct.

Like the holding company,
so the subsidiaries.

Through our parent company, Holborn Investment Company Limited (HICL), we are part of Oilinvest (Netherlands) B.V. Oilinvest operates filling stations in Italy, Spain, and Switzerland via its Tamoil subsidiaries. Tamoil is also represented in the German market under the "HEM" brand.

Our refinery has a wholly owned subsidiary, Norddeutsche Ölleitungs GmbH (NDO), whose pipeline pumps the crude oil from Wilhelmshaven to our refinery in Hamburg. We also have a shareholding of around 20 percent in Nord-West Oelleitung GmbH (NWO), whose tanker discharging piers and storage tanks are used to deliver our crude oil in Wilhelmshaven.

We are working under a processing agreement and process crude oil on behalf of our sister company HOLBORN European Marketing Company Limited (HEMCL), who purchases and provides us with crude oil and then resells the finished refinery products on the market. This partnership allows us to concentrate fully on our core business – the production of high-quality heating oil and fuels.

History

Norddeutsche
Ölleitung

We obtain our crude oil via the Norddeutsche Oelleitung, North German Oil Pipeline. This long-range pipeline transports crude oil from the deep water harbour of Wilhelmshaven over 142 km to Hamburg. This is safer and more reliable than shipping it to Hamburg in large tankers via the busy Elbe River.

The pipeline is owned by Norddeutsche Oelleitungsgesellschaft m.b.H. (NDO). This company is a wholly owned subsidiary of our refinery. The pipeline is operated by Nord-West-Oelleitung GmbH (NWO) in Wilhelmshaven, which also operates the oil port there.

If you are planning a construction project in the vicinity of the NDO pipeline, please contact the pipeline information service.
