HOLBORN apprentices Niklas Matuschak and Vincent Börger were honoured as energy scouts by the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, 14 November 2018. They earned second place from a total of 12 teams in this year's Chamber of Commerce competition. Each team had its operational efficiency project on a poster and had to make a 10-minute presentation in front of a jury and audience.
Our two apprentices' project investigated the differing thermal losses in a pipeline that had only partially been fitted with new insulation. They determined it would be worthwhile, after a little more than three years, to also renew the pipeline sections that had old insulation.
Both apprentices had participated in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce "Apprentices to Energy Scouts" training course. This qualification involves participants completing several workshop modules on the topic of energy and then producing a project report within their business. This enables them to recognise and initiate energy saving potentials in their company.
